It is possible to use the speed view as a tach. I checked it personally and it works. 

All you have to do is, set the trigger value as 0.2 volts (normally it will be 2.0 volts). and make sure that you are getting right RPM by pressing show RPM. if you get a proper RPM value then your speed view is a tach. it worked in a keyway on the shaft and works really nice where you have reflective tape.

I tested peak and phase, coast down test everything works well.
